HONOLULU — A woman critically injured during a violent purse snatching in Waikiki has died.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Wednesday Jullie Stephenson died at Straub Clinic and Hospital.

Family said the 52-yar-old was returning home to her Waikiki apartment on Feb. 2 when a man shoved her down from behind and grabbed her purse.

The Hawaii native and Kaiser High School graduate broke her hip in the fall and started bleeding internally. Doctors placed her in a coma to protect her organs from further damage.

She’s survived by three children and four grandchildren.

No one has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Police said they may reclassify the case as a homicide depending on the outcome of an autopsy.
